The Hamburgischer Verein Seefahrt has a long and incredibly proud history of nurturing young offshore sailors by training and developing inter-personal skills in teamwork, fairness, leadership and, of course, sailing. It was established in 1903.

The HVS have entered the Cape to Rio a number of times, including the very first edition in 1971.

It is incredibly special to welcome their entry in the 2020 edition of the race.

The Judel Vrolijk 52 Haspa Hamburg is the 14th “Hamburg” edition yacht owned by the HVS, and she has participated in offshore racing all around the world. She’s raced in the Fastnet, the Sydney Hobart, the Caribbean 600 and countless other transatlantic and international ocean races.

The young crew will be looking to broaden their horizons with their visits to South Africa and Brazil, and build bridges with other young teams entered in the race.

Herzlich willkommen, Haspa Hamburg!
